by Howard E. Koch • Based on the novel by H.G. Wells
Directed by Jonathan Rhys Williams
This special event is not part of our Mainstage package.
Broadcast from New York’s Mercury Theatre in 1938, this infamous radio play, based on the novel by H. G. Wells, had many terrified listeners convinced that an actual alien invasion of Earth was taking place. Adapted by Howard E. Koch, co-writer of Casablanca, and narrated by Orson Welles, this original script detailing the frightening tale of an extraterrestrial takeover brings to life onstage a fully rendered live radio play just as it might have been produced by Orson Welles in 1938.
Due to the pandemic, Tabard Theatre is closed to patrons, and currently operating as a broadcast studio only.
